Stolen Russian Ship Drawings Found at Swedish Auction

Rossvyazokhrankultura demands the ship drawings stolen from the Museum of Dzerzhinsky Higher Navy Engineering College of Saint Petersburg to be removed from the biddings of the Sweden auctioning house Stockholms Auktionsverk.
These are water-color drawings of the ships Russia (1839), Fere-Champenoise (1849), and Empress Alexandra (1850). Their initial bidding price runs ˆ 4.3 to 5.4 thousand. The deputy head of Rossvyazokhrankultura (Russian Federal Surveillance Service for Mass Communications, Communications and Cultural Heritage Protection) Anatoly Vilkov reported the fact.
The rarities were stolen in 1992 together with 30 valuable exhibits, including banners, silver jubilee medals and paraphernalia of Heroes of the Soviet Union he added. Mr. Vilkov reminded that criminal proceedings had been instituted over the case of stealing.
