Subject: NEWS intangible heritage / UNESCO
Dear colleagues,
I would like to bring your attention to the international competition that
UNESCO is calling for related to the creation of an emblem for the 2003
Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for
the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Wishing for all regions of the world to participate, UNESCO encourages
proposals from professional or amateur graphic designers, artists, and
practitioners of intangible cultural heritage from both developing and
developed countries. Please know that UNESCO has not so far received many
submissions from African countries, and partly because of this reason the
deadline has been extended to 17 March 2008.
The complete Regulations for the emblem competition as well as a
submission form to accompany proposed emblems are available in different
languages at www.unesco.org/culture/ich/en/emblem/.
The prize for the selected design is USD 15,000 (fifteen thousand US
dollars), which constitutes full payment for the cession of the copyright.
I would be grateful if you could please disseminate this news through your
network.
FORWARDED BY: www.CulturalHeritage.cc
Should you have any questions about the competition, please write to
ich-emblem at unesco.org.
Thank you and best wishes,
Fumiko Ohinata
