International Foundation for Cultural Property Protection
Tenth Annual Conference
August 17-20, 2008
Boston Park Plaza
The IFCPP 2008 Annual Conference, Seminar, Exhibits & Certification Program is already underway in terms of planning and advance preparations. Three days of certification sessions, general sessions, and live exercises are being planned now.
The theme for the 2008 big event is "Getting Your Hands Dirty – Taking the Extra Step" In 2008, we will be adding hands-on exercises and practical demonstrations, and continuing with the newly implemented CIPM II certification expansion.
The 2008 conference will run 3 full days, plus full-day pre-conference and/or post-conference educational events. We encourage you to submit your ideas and program proposals early, so that an already outstanding program can be improved even more. As always, IFCPP is promoting a casual atmosphere, so leave those suits and ties at home.
Please provide your program ideas and certification instruction availability now. New program proposals should include the following:
Ø Proposed program title
Ø Description of program content
Ø Session type (general, special interest group, certification, panel discussion, exercise)
Ø Presenter style (single speaker, panel, group discussion)
Ø Length of session (50, 75 or 90 minutes)
Ø Purpose of program
Ø Name and contact information for session proposer
Ø Name and contact information for speaker(s) (if different than proposer)
Ø Speaker experience (program, date presented, audience)
All programs selected by our program committee must be submitted in PowerPoint format 60 days prior to the conference for final distribution at the conference. Further instructions will follow for those programs selected. We are looking for a select number of outstanding proposals, which will be juried by our panel of experts.
Sessions need to be of general interest to our mixed audience of administrators and managers, or of interest to a specific segment of the cultural property community. Sessions must also present information that is beneficial to the protection of institutions of any size or budget, or to the improvement of management, technology, or overall benefit of the institution. Presenters must have extensive professional speaking and/or training experience. As you should be aware, we strive to present topical, upbeat, dynamic programming. With subject material that is of interest to the majority of our attendees, rather than select groups.
Suggested topics, with or without presenters, should be forwarded soon so that we may evaluate them and determine those that will be included in the schedule. Publications that include presentation descriptions are now being prepared, so time is limited. Programs will be selected based on content, appropriateness for the attendant audience, and professional experience of the presenter.
Honorariums are not offered, but presenters will be provided with complimentary conference registration for the day(s) that they will be presenting. Panelists will receive discounts as well. Normally, expense reimbursement will not be available for airfare, lodging, rental car, or mileage. IFCPP will be responsible for handout reproduction.
Program selections are being made now, so don't wait to submit your proposals. Following selection, PowerPoint presentations and handouts will be due June 16, 2008. Submittals may be by e-mail, fax, or regular mail. When submitting your program proposal by e-mail, please copy both e-mail addresses below. The Foundation sincerely appreciates your contribution, and values your expertise and professionalism. We look forward to your response. Thank you for taking the time to forward your proposal, and for your desire to participate in the 2008 conference.
