Al-Quds's L.A. Mayer Museum of Islamic Art has recovered dozens of European antique clocks, which were stolen from its collection.

Among the recovered items, is an intricate gold and crystal pocket watch made in the late 18th century for the French Queen Marie Antoinette, who was jailed before the watch was made.

The displayed collection features valuable pieces by the famous Swiss horologist, Abraham Louis Breguet, which were stolen in 1983 from the museum's 200-piece collection.

The stolen clocks were found in a British woman's 40-piece collection. She claimed that she had inherited the collection from her husband, Reuters reported.

While the identity of the thieves still remains a secret, the woman agreed to return the clocks and watches in exchange for a nominal fee.
