Waterbury (WTNH) _ A Waterbury woman is facing larceny charges after two stolen paintings were found inside her home.
Police were able to track down 52-year old Diane Catalani after an employee at the Chase Collegiate School reported a woman trying to leave the campus carrying an oil painting. On Monday, the school reported that a painting valued at $5,000 was missing.
The painting was found inside Catalani's home along with another expensive oil painting that was stolen right off the wall of The Waterbury Club.
Neighbors say police spent hours removing dozens of painting from inside the home.
"The police were here all day yesterday and they've been here all night and all day today," said one neighbor.
Officers also report finding a large amount of antiques including silver, porcelain, clocks, jewelry and religious items. They are trying to determine if the items could be connected to thefts from Southbury churches this summer.
As of right now, Catalani if facing two counts of larceny.
