  Man arrested after stolen statue of horse found in his garage

Authorities arrested a DeLand resident today after they found a stolen 
statue of a horse in his garage.

Travis E. Stone, 18, was charged with grand theft and was being held in 
the Volusia County Branch Jail on $2,500 bond, the DeLand Police 
Department said.

Police have other suspects, and the investigation remains active.

Julie Valladares, a cancer patient, created the sculpture, which is on 
loan to the Florida Museum of Art in DeLand.

The sculpture, called Light Years, which was stolen from The Museum of 
Florida Art on Friday.

It was last seen at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, outside the museum, where it 
was bolted down in front of the museum, which is across the street from 
Stetson University.
