Reward offered in McHenry County copper thefts
WOODSTOCK, Ill. (AP) - A series of copper thefts since mid-May have prompted Crime Stoppers of McHenry County to offer a reward of 1 thousand dollars for information leading to an arrest.
Some of the copper stolen was cable from the Illinois Railway Museum in Union.
The museum reported the theft of more than five thousand dollars in copper cable, trolley wire and locomotive radiators in recent break-ins. In each case, the fence was cut.
Police blame the thefts on the high price of scrap copper. Other thefts have been reported in Harvard, Crystal Lake and Woodstock.
