Brazil Police Suspect Employee in Picasso Theft, Globo Reports

By Adriana Brasileiro

Dec. 27 (Bloomberg) -- A security guard on duty at the Sao Paulo Museum of
Art on Dec. 20, when a Picasso and a Brazilian painting were stolen, is a
suspect in the heist, O Globo reported, citing unidentified police
officials.

The security guard encouraged his colleagues to sleep while on duty
overnight, telling them he would watch the video from security cameras,
Globo said.

The police secured warrants to obtain the phone records of three
unidentified suspects in the theft, the newspaper added.

Twenty-one employees of the museum have been questioned by the Sao Paulo
police, Globo added.
