Bronze bust of George Brett missing from Missouri hall
Associated Press
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Law officers and museum officials are looking for a
bronze bust of former Kansas City Royals third baseman George Brett that was
apparently stolen from the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, officials said
Thursday.
The bust valued at $10,000 to $15,000 stood outside the Springfield museum
as part of a "legends walkway" with about 15 other busts of athletes and
three full-size statues, museum operations director Marty Willadsen said.
"We noticed it missing yesterday so we think it was probably taken Tuesday
or Monday evening," Willadsen said.
The museum called the Greene County Sheriff's Department, which assigned a
detective to investigate. Willadsen said the museum is not offering a reward
for the return of the bust - at least not yet.
While the bust is heavy, it wasn't too heavy for someone to carry it away,
he said.
