Artifact stolem in Deadwood museum
BY GREG BISCHOFF, Black Hills Pioneer September 22, 2006
"We had a theft of an artifact from the Clowser Collection at the Days of
'76 Museum," said Kelly Fuller chief of the Deadwood Police Department.
Fuller added that the theft possibly occurred on Monday. A suspicious male
was seen in that area just prior to the time the artifact was found to be
missing.
Fuller said that the missing artifact is an American Indian artifact, a
small stone axe head. A wire was cut to remove the artifact.
Fuller said the suspicious subject was described as a male, six-feet,
one-inches to six-feet, two-inches tall and very thin framed. The subject
had thinning sandy brown hair with no facial hair. He was described as being
his mid-30s to late-40s in age. He was wearing sunglasses that changed color
depending on the direction that a person looked at them.
Fuller said that any information that the public could provide would be
appreciated. Anyone that has information is asked to call the Deadwood
Police Department at 578-2623.
