Patna: October 12, 2006
Workers build a brick wall at Patna Museum to secure the building. Photo by Shashi UttamThe Kotwali police in Patna, on Wednesday, grilled the man in charge of keeping Patna Museum clean, Deepak Narain, for hours in connection with the recent theft of 18 antique statues worth several crores of rupees.
Narain is the man who has a key to the museum, the police said.
"We are looking into all possibilities even though it appears the burglars entered into the first floor of the building by breaking a glass window," the Kotwali police station in-charge said.
Workers, meanwhile, were seen erecting a brick wall in some parts of the museum to secure the building from further break-ins.
The police has failed to recover the 18 statues belonging to the Pala dynasty that were stolen from Patna Museum on September 26.
