Arrest Warrants Issued for Canadian Duo After Theft of Antique Books

After an investigation into the theft of several antique books from The
Avenue LTD, 117 Post Road E., last month, Westport Police detectives have
obtained arrest warrants for Ontario, Canada residents Peter Mason King, 48,
and Nora Thomson, 47.
A subsequent investigation, with assistance by the Toronto Metropolitan
Police Department Major Crimes Squad, led to the recovery in Westport of
several antique prints that were stolen from a Canadian antiques dealer by
King and Thomson, according to police records.

The two are also believed to be responsible for a larceny that occurred at
The Avenue LTD in early August. The antique books stolen from the Westport
store were given an approximate value of $56,000.

As a result of the joint investigation, with the help of several members of
the antiquarian book selling community, King and Thomson were arrested by
the Toronto Police Department for possession of stolen property from
Westport, theft and larceny from an antiques dealer in Canada, and all the
property stolen from the Westport larceny was recovered in Canada. They were
subsequently released on bail.

The Westport Police Department requests that anyone coming into contact with
King or Thomson call police headquarters at 341-6000.
