ART THEFT: GANG DISCOVERED IN AGRIGENTO, 12 ARRESTS
(AGI)- Agrigento, Nov. 6 - Ten people were arrested at dawn today on arrest warrants signed by Agrigento preliminary investigative judge Walter Carlisi and carried out by police officers from the flying squads of Agrigento and Palermo. Twelve people were to be arrested, but two managed to escape and are now wanted by police. All are accused of criminal association for art theft and kidnapping. Those arrested are: Luigi Viola, 40, from Campobello Licata (Agrigento), Girolamo Castiglione, 31, Palermo, Andrea Mazara, 35, Palermo, Salvatore Giusino, 44, Palermo, Michele Trantina, 49, Palermo, Francesco Paolo Grano, 46, Palermo, Salvatore Aguglia, 58, Piazza Armerina (Caltanissetta), Giovanni Caruso, 35, Palermo, Paolo Pace, 34, Palermo and Alessandro La Rosa, 28, Catania. Details of the operation will be released at 11 in a press conference participated in by Agrigento state prosecutor Ignazio De Francisci and the head of the Agrigento flying squad, Attilio Brucato.
