[MSN] Inquiry: "Qualifications" for Forgery Expert (esp. Visual Arts)?

I have recently been asked by two students (one high school and one college)
for recommendations about how one becomes a forgery expert (esp. visual
arts).  As I don't know myself, I suggested they investigate criminalistics
(i.e., forensic science).  But I also promised to send out inquiries to
various experts in the visual arts, the art auctioneers/marketeers, museum
security, art appraisers, etc.

 

I wonder if you might know of educational programs at the college
(undergraduate or graduate levels) or other agencies/organizations that
offer training and/or licensure for such an expertise?
