'Missing' Nolan work found
May 22, 2006
A $500,000 painting owned by Melbourne socialite Lady Susan Renouf and
believed to have been stolen has turned up at an art storage house.
"I am delighted to report the painting Arthur Boyd at Fitzroy Falls by
Sidney Nolan has been recovered," Lady Renouf said today.

"It was delivered to and then misplaced by Deutcher Menzies Art Auctions."

The painting was last seen at Lady Renouf's house in March this year before
it was packed and sent to Smiths Moving and Storage and then on to Deutcher
Menzies.

The art auction house misplaced the painting, prompting concerns it had been
stolen.

A police investigation was underway when a staff member called on Friday, 10
days after delivery, to say the artwork had been located.

The painting, a finalist for the 1988 Archibald Prize, is reported to be set
to be put up for auction soon.
