An art dealer with a criminal record was sentenced Tuesday in St. Louis to
one year in federal prison for her role in a scheme to have a man posing as
a sheik sell a phony Rembrandt painting here for $2.8 million.

Marilyn Karos, 65, admitted that she helped Majed Ihmoud, of St. Charles,
pose as a sheik from the Saudi royal family as part of a scam to sell a
bogus version of "Man with the Golden Helmet."

Karos, formerly of Whitefish Bay, Wis., pleaded guilty in March of
conspiracy and mail fraud.

An FBI surveillance video captured Ihmoud dressing in a sheik's robes before
meeting with undercover agents at the Adam's Mark Hotel downtown in August
2004.
