   NORTHWOOD - Nearly 80 prints being sold as a fund-raiser for Northwood's
2008 sesquicentennial celebration were stolen early Thursday from the
downtown building in which they were being stored.

According to a press release from the Northwood Police Department, the
suspect or suspects entered the locked vacant building at 811 Central Ave.
by removing the front door.

The prints had been ordered by the Northwood Chamber of Commerce. Some of
them were framed.

About one-third of the prints being stored in the building, which is owned
by the Northwood Anchor, were stolen, Northwood Police Chief Leo Dorsey told
the Globe Gazette.

He said the prints had just arrived on Wednesday and were being stored
overnight before being delivered Thursday to the people who bought them.

The name of the painting the prints were made from is "Main Street Memories"
by artist J.D. Spelz of Armstrong. It depicts how Northwood's Main Street
would have looked in the early 1920s.

The prints were numbered and signed by the artist.

A reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and
conviction of those involved in the theft.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Northwood Police
Department at (641) 324-1500 or the Worth County Sheriff's Department at
(641) 324-2481.
