Chiefs of Petersburg museums meet behind closed doors

11.08.2006, 14.49 ST. PETERSBURG, August 11 (Itar-Tass) -- Ensuring safety of museum collections is one of the main problems discussed by heads of St. Petersburg federal museums who met at the Hermitage Museum behind closed doors on Friday.

On the agenda of the closed-door meeting are problems that will be discussed at an extraordinary meeting of the Presidium of the Union of Museums of Russia scheduled for August 14-15, a source from the Hermitage told Tass on Friday.

According to the Union of Museums of Russia, chiefs of the biggest Russian museums will analyze the general situation in respect to the loss and theft of museum exhibits and discuss problems of ensuring safety of museum collections and responsibility of museum staff.
