HONOLULU (AP) _ A Native Hawaiian group is asking the Ninth U-S Circuit
Court of Appeals to postpone a federal judge's ruling ordering them to
return 83 burial objects.

Hui Malama I Na Kupuna O Hawaii Nei is appealing a recent order by Chief U-S
District Judge David Ezra that said the group has until September 23rd to
return the items to the Bishop Museum.

The group wants Ezra's ruling to be postponed until the appeal process is
completed.

Hui Malama says the objects were looted from a Big Island cave in 1905. They
say they returned the items to the cave to comply with the wishes of their
ancestors.
