Cosmosphere Officials Look to Minimize Damage After Ary Trial
AP

In the wake of the Max Ary case, the Kansas Cosmosphere is working to
minimize damage to its reputation.

Last week the center's co-founder was convicted in Wichita federal court of
12 counts in the theft and sale of space artifacts from the Hutchinson
museum he ran for 26 years.

Even before Ary left, steps were taken to strengthen security and improve
inventory controls.

Association of Science-Technology Centers spokesman Sean Smith says the
Cosmosphere's reputation doesn't appear to have been hurt too badly by the
Ary conviction. He says attendance figures are still healthy, and
relationships with NASA and the Smithsonian Institution remain strong.
