A 37-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with an arson attack at
a museum that saw handmade outfits and tools worth £15,000 go up in flames.
Three storage sheds were damaged in the blaze at the Roots of Norfolk museum
at Gressenhall, near Dereham, at about 1.30am on Monday.
Little of the contents could be saved, although a fire crew from Dereham was
quickly on the scene and put out the flames within 20 minutes.
Museum spokesman Oliver Briscoe said electrical equipment, including walkie-
talkies, had been damaged, and costumes and props used in the museum's
education programmes had been lost.
Many of the items were handmade and especially created for use at Roots.
A grain store at the musuem's Union Farm was also broken into, and grain
bags split open.
Police arrested a 37-year-old woman from Dereham in connection with the
incident. She was later released on bail until July 4 while police establish
the full circumstances of the incident.
