Police recover stolen paintings

May 2, 2005

Seven paintings by 20th Century artists, including Pablo Picasso, have been
recovered by Italian authorities in the northern city of Monza, near Milan.

The artwork was found in the course of a police investigation that broke up
a network of nine people and led to the arrest of an international
trafficker with the help of Interpol.

The paintings included work by Spanish master Picasso, Italy's Arnaldo
Pomodoro and Giorgio Morandi.

The works were ready to be sold in Italy and abroad, police say.
