*Abandonados, pinturas rupestres y petroglifos de Queréndaro*

En pleno abandono se encuentran las pinturas rupestres y los petroglifos 
de Queréndaro, ya que al día de hoy los vestigios arqueológicos de la 
Peña Rajada lucen deteriorados por la erosión, saturados de grafiti y 
olvidados por las autoridades. La Peña Rajada es el símbolo de 
Queréndaro -lugar de peñascos-, y es precisamente la que más significado 
tiene para la región, ya que es allí donde han encontrado mayor cantidad 
de vestigios, tanto en la cima como en los alrededores -tepalcates, 
obsidianas y alfarería-.

Miguel Domínguez, campesino de la zona, comenta que él visitaba la peña 
cuando niño y observaba más de 20 pinturas que la bordeaban y que 
lamentablemente hoy sólo pueden apreciarse tres o cuatro; además, "los 
visitantes sólo rayan las paredes y tiran basura, no respetan a los 
antiguos que la habitaron, pero para mí ese lugar es muy importante". 
Comenta, además, que en estas fechas viene mucha gente a pasar los fines 
de semana y como no hay quien esté al pendiente de cuidarlas, el sitio 
luce cada año peor, por lo que cree que pronto desaparecerán por completo.

En entrevista, el secretario del Ayuntamiento de Queréndaro, Miguel 
García Hernández, reconoció la importancia que tiene el sitio y comentó 
que desde 1960, cuando hubo un gran saqueo de piezas arqueológicas en la 
zona (con algunas de las cuales hicieron un museo), la peña ha sufrido 
deterioros constantes ya que no hay control de accesos, además de que 
las autoridades del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) 
no se han acercado para realizar algún estudio al respecto ni se han 
preocupado por él, y como el lote pertenece a tres distintos dueños, el 
sitio sigue y seguirá en el abandono.

Pinturas rupestres
El lugar más significativo de la peña está en la entrada a la caverna, 
ya que es allí donde pueden aún apreciarse a dos metros de altura cuatro 
pinturas color rojo en las que se distinguen tres personajes -dos con 
penachos- y una gran flecha. Los vecinos y las autoridades comentan que 
antes había más pinturas no sólo en la Peña Rajada, sino en los riscos 
aladaños, pero que muchas han desaparecido con el paso del tiempo y sólo 
pocos conocen su ubicación exacta.

Petroglifos
Bordeando la peña a una altura no mayor a un metro pueden apreciarse más 
de 80 círculos picoteados, algunos con un punto en el centro y otros con 
un zigzag trasero, además de algunos pájaros y figuras antropomorfas con 
cuernos, que lamentablemente están muy degradadas ya que la gente raya a 
los alrededores figuras similares, destruyéndolas e impidiendo 
distinguir la línea de los grabados originales con claridad.

La triste realidad que sufre la Peña Rajada en Queréndaro parece no 
importarle a nadie, ya que las autoridades municipales y el INAH 
Michoacán no han realizado acciones al respecto; parece ser sólo 
cuestión de unos pocos años para que en este sitio no puedan 
distinguirse más estos vestigios que nos hablan no sólo de la historia 
antigua de Queréndaro en la época que la habitó la cultura de Chupícuaro 
-300 aC-, así como los matlatzincas y purépechas -1200 dC-, sino que 
estas pinturas rupestres y petroglifos constituyen el único registro de 
los primeros pobladores que en la prehistoria habitaron el lugar, y que 
lamentablemente por vandalismo y apatía de las autoridades estamos a 
punto de perder.

the Cracked Rock, but in the aladaños riscos, but which many have 
disappeared with the passage of time and only few know their location 
exact. 

Petroglifos
