An art gallery in Happy Valley-Goose Bay will close after someone stole
$1,500 worth of carvings Monday night.
Last week, a series of Inuit stone carvings worth $9,300 was stolen from the
same gallery.
The managing director of the Nunatsiavut Development Corporation gallery,
Fred Hall, said the gallery will close in order to avoid any future thefts.
"We understand it's fairly organized and someone is fencing the art, and
it's finding its way up to Montreal," said Hall.
"We were hit about once a year the last four years, but now it's twice
within a week.
"I'm concerned about safety and, of course, the damage to property. We are
planning to close the gallery and pack up the art."
The RCMP has not made any arrests in relation to the break-ins.
