12,000-Year-Old Artifact Stolen
Went Missing During "Artifact Road Show"

(CBS) INDIANAPOLIS A spear that has been dated at 12,000-years-old went
missing during an event called the "Artifact Road Show" at the Indiana State
Fair.

The spear was part of an event where artifacts displayed by the public are
identified and dated by archaeologists.

The missing Paleoindian Clovis spear point is believed to have been used by
early Native American hunters and gatherers.

A release by the Department of Natural Resources asks anyone with
information about the spear point to call the DNR archaeology division at
317-232-1646, email dhpa at dnr.in.gov, or simply return it to any DNR
property.
