4 stolen bronze statues recovered; arrest made
SCOTTSDALE - Four bronze statues stolen from a Scottsdale art gallery years
ago have been recovered in a Phoenix storage facility, and a suspect has
been arrested. advertisement
Craig Aabye, 40, was arrested by Scottsdale police detectives and booked on
charges of possession of stolen property, possession of dangerous drugs and
an outstanding warrant.
The statues, valued at $22,000, were stolen from the Meyer Gallery, 7173 E.
Main St., in late 2002 and early 2003.
Last month, police recovered an 8 1/2-foot steel statue of a Native American
woman that had been reported stolen in April from the Lovena Ohl Gallery,
7144 E. Main St. That piece, valued at $10,000, was also found at a storage
facility. Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark said Aabye has not been
connected to that theft.
