Rare violin stolen from East York home

Wednesday, April 20, 2005 Page A10

A violin dating to before the Battle of the Plains of Abraham was stolen
from an East York home yesterday morning, police said.

The instrument, made in Nuremburg in 1750, can be identified by the label
inside that describes it as a work by Leonardus Mausielle. Thought to be the
only violin this maker built that year, it is valued at $13,000.

Police said that the dark brown instrument was stolen from a home in the
Woodbine and O'Connor area. Staff
