Rare violin stolen from car
LOS ANGELES (AP) - A young musician who had a borrowed violin and bow,
together valued at $850,000, stolen from her car called Tuesday for its safe
return.
Lindsay Deutsch, 20, said the violin was stolen Sunday while she went inside
a San Fernando Valley grocery store for about 10 minutes. The instrument was
on the passenger seat.
The violin, made in 1742, was on loan from Peter Mandell, who said he had
insurance but it does not cover thefts from motor vehicles.
